1. Policy Statement
Quality Waste recognises the urgent need to address climate change and is committed to operating in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. Our goal is to continually reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a low-carbon future while delivering responsible waste management services.
We will achieve this by minimising waste to landfill, reducing emissions from operations, investing in low-carbon technologies, and promoting a culture of sustainability throughout our business and supply chain.
2. Current Position
Quality Waste already maintains a low carbon footprint through:
- Operating a nil-to-landfill policy by maximising recycling and recovery.
- Prioritising e-waste reduction and recycling, preventing hazardous materials from entering the waste stream.
- Utilising natural lighting in our warehouse to reduce energy consumption.
- Employing efficient route planning to reduce fuel use and emissions.
- Maintaining close monitoring of energy and resource use.
3. Targets & Commitments
To build on our current performance, Quality Waste has set the following measurable targets:
Waste Management & Recycling
- Continue nil-to-landfill commitment for all managed waste streams.
- Increase e-waste collection and recycling year-on-year by working with businesses and local communities.
Vehicles & Equipment
- Transition to 100% electric vans and fleet vehicles by 2030.
- Replace existing LPG gas-powered forklift trucks with electric forklifts by 2028.
- Explore opportunities for charging infrastructure and renewable energy supply.
Energy Use
- Maintain and expand the use of natural lighting and low-energy LED systems across all facilities.
- Conduct an annual energy efficiency audit to identify new opportunities to reduce energy use.
Supply Chain & Procurement
- Prioritise working with suppliers who demonstrate strong environmental practices.
- Review procurement processes to ensure consideration of carbon footprint in decision-making.
4. Monitoring & Reporting
- Quality Waste will monitor its carbon footprint annually and report progress against targets to stakeholders.
- Progress will be reviewed at board level to ensure continual improvement.
- Corrective actions will be taken where targets are not met.
5. Continuous Improvement
We recognise that sustainability is a continuous journey. Quality Waste will seek out new technologies, practices, and partnerships that help us further reduce emissions, conserve resources, and minimise environmental impact.
6. Approval
This Carbon Footprint and Reduction Policy has been approved by the Board of Directors of Quality Waste.
