Quality Waste – Secure Waste Management & Data Protection UK

1. Purpose
At Quality Waste, protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data is a top priority. This Data Security Policy defines our approach to safeguarding personal and business data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This policy applies to all data handled by Quality Waste, including:

- Confidentiality: Ensuring data is only accessible to authorised personnel.
- Integrity: Protecting data from unauthorised alteration or destruction.

Physical Security:
- Secure premises with restricted access to data storage and processing areas.
- CCTV and alarm systems monitoring sensitive locations.
Technical Security:
- Firewalls, antivirus software, and regular system updates.
- Encrypted data storage and secure transmission protocols (e.g., SSL/TLS).
- Strong password policies and multi-factor authentication for system access.
Administrative Security:
- Regular staff training on data protection and security best practices.
- Clear roles and responsibilities for data handling.
- Incident response plans for data breaches.
5. Data Access
Access to personal and sensitive data is granted strictly on a “need to know” basis. User permissions are regularly reviewed and adjusted to prevent unauthorised access.
6. Data Breach Management
In the event of a data breach, Quality Waste will follow a strict response plan, including:
- Immediate containment and assessment of the breach.
- Notification to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within 72 hours if required.
- Informing affected individuals where there is a high risk.
- Investigation and implementation of corrective measures.
7. Third-Party Security
Quality Waste ensures all third-party partners and suppliers comply with equivalent data security standards, verified through contracts and regular audits.
8. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed at least annually or in response to changes in legislation, technology, or operational requirements.
