1. Policy Statement
Quality Waste is committed to conducting all aspects of its business responsibly, ethically, and with integrity. We take a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking in any part of our operations or supply chains.
This policy is in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and reflects our commitment to acting ethically in all business relationships.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All employees, workers, agency staff, and contractors engaged by Quality Waste.
- All suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners.
- Any third party acting on behalf of Quality Waste.
3. Commitments
Quality Waste will:
- Carry out due diligence on suppliers and contractors to reduce risks of modern slavery.
- Incorporate anti-slavery and trafficking clauses into supplier and contractor agreements.
- Ensure recruitment is conducted fairly, transparently, and without fees being charged to workers.
- Provide training to staff so they can recognise and report potential indicators of modern slavery.
- Encourage whistleblowing and ensure concerns can be reported without fear of retaliation.
4. Responsibilities
Directors and Senior Management
- Hold overall responsibility for implementing this policy and ensuring compliance.
- Review and approve the policy annually.
Managers and Supervisors
- Ensure staff understand and follow this policy.
- Escalate concerns about modern slavery to senior management.
Employees
- Must not engage in, condone, or benefit from modern slavery or human trafficking.
- Report any suspicions through appropriate channels.
5. Supply Chain Due Diligence
- Risk assessments will be undertaken to identify vulnerable areas in the supply chain.
- Suppliers may be asked to provide evidence of their compliance (audits, certifications, or policies).
- If a supplier is found to be in breach, Quality Waste will take immediate steps, including termination of the contract if necessary.
6. Training & Awareness
- All new employees will be briefed on modern slavery awareness as part of induction.
- Staff involved in procurement and recruitment will receive additional training on identifying and preventing risks.
7. Reporting Concerns
Employees, contractors, or third parties are encouraged to raise concerns about modern slavery. Concerns can be raised:
- To a line manager or supervisor.
- Through HR.
- Via the company’s whistleblowing procedure (confidential reporting).
All concerns will be taken seriously, investigated, and acted upon appropriately.
8. Monitoring & Review
- The Board of Directors will review this policy annually.
- The effectiveness of the policy will be monitored through supplier audits, staff feedback, and incident reporting.
- Updates will be made to reflect changes in legislation, business practices, or identified risks.
9. Approval
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy has been approved by the Board of Directors of Quality Waste.
