Which Fire Extinguishers Can We Help With?

Tell us the types shown on the labels. These common extinguisher groups help identify your collection.

Water Extinguishers

Unwanted portable water extinguishers.

Foam Extinguishers

Foam units, with the foam type identified where possible.

Powder Extinguishers

Redundant dry-powder units.

CO₂ Extinguishers

Carbon dioxide extinguishers, including units with discharge horns.

Wet Chemical Units

Unwanted catering and kitchen fire extinguishers.

Mixed & Older Units

Mixed stock and older or unidentified types for advice.

A Straightforward Way to Clear Old Extinguishers

Redundant extinguishers often end up in a cupboard after a servicing visit or building refit. They are pressurised equipment, so clearing them needs more care than putting ordinary scrap metal into a skip.

We arrange fire extinguisher waste collections for offices, shops, warehouses, schools, facilities teams and fire protection businesses. Let us know which types of fire extinguisher you have and approximately how many of each need collecting. If you are unsure of the types, send us some photos of the extinguishers and their labels, and our friendly team will help.

Full, Part-Used or Apparently Empty Units

Tell us whether the extinguishers are full, used or believed to be empty, and flag any damage or corrosion. Even an extinguisher that looks empty can still be pressurised or contain leftover contents. Leave it intact for collection; do not empty it, take it apart or puncture it.

Keep them secure and protected from impact, following your workplace arrangements. Waste extinguishers must stay separate from equipment you rely on for fire protection. Arrange disposal after the required replacement cover is in place.

Foam & Older Extinguishers Need a Closer Look

Some firefighting foams contain PFAS or regulated persistent organic pollutants. Older specialist extinguishers can also need a different disposal route. Send us the available label information rather than guessing the contents.

Let us know about old foam stock, halon units or unidentified extinguishers before collection. We will confirm the appropriate arrangements for those particular units. Do not empty foam into a drain or remove labels.

One-Off Collections or Ongoing Servicing Waste

We can help with a one-off building clearance or repeat collections for businesses that regularly replace extinguishers. Costs depend on the types, condition, number of units and collection location.

Where suitable, materials can be recovered after the pressure and contents have been dealt with safely through the appropriate treatment route.

Your Questions Answered

Can you collect a mixture of extinguisher types?

Yes. Tell us which types you have, or send label photos, with a rough count. Flag older, unidentified, damaged or badly corroded units separately.

Do the extinguishers have to be empty?

No. Tell us their condition and whether they are full, used or believed to be empty. Do not discharge them yourself for disposal.

Can you collect foam fire extinguishers?

We can help with foam units. Tell us the foam type where known and send any readable labels. Some foams contain substances requiring specialist disposal arrangements.

What about halon or very old extinguishers?

Tell us before including them in a collection. Old or specialist contents need their own handling and disposal route, which must be confirmed for those units.

Can fire servicing companies book regular collections?

Yes. We can discuss recurring collections for your redundant extinguisher stock. Let us know the typical types and number of units.
