Drum Disposal & IBC Recycling for Businesses

Empty drums and redundant IBCs can quickly take over a yard or warehouse. Quality Waste helps UK businesses clear industrial containers through a suitable collection and recycling or disposal route.

Let us know the type of container and what it was previously used for, as it may still contain residue. We can help with one-off container clearances and regular collections.

“Empty” Containers Can Still Have Residues

A drum may look empty while still holding oil, solvent, paint or chemical residue. That affects how it needs to be handled. Keep any labels in place and tell us about previous contents, remaining liquid and damaged containers.

Do not rinse chemicals into drains, cut drums open or crush them yourself. Containers that held dangerous substances may need a hazardous waste route even after the usable product has been removed.

What Happens to Unwanted Drums & IBCs?

Container materials and contamination determine whether recycling, suitable reuse or another treatment route is possible. Steel, plastic bottles, cages and mixed components need the appropriate handling.

If the container still holds a significant amount of product, tell us about both the container and its contents. Our waste oil, paint and solvent disposal services can help you find the right starting point.

Your Questions Answered

Can you collect drums with chemical residues?

Yes. We can help with contaminated business containers. Tell us what they held and whether liquid or other residue remains, so the correct route can be arranged.

Do you collect both steel and plastic drums?

Yes. We collect steel drums, plastic drums and barrels from businesses. Let us know the container types, approximately how many you have and what they previously held. You can also send us some photos to help identify them.

Can you collect IBC cages and bottles separately?

Yes. Tell us whether you have complete IBC units, bottles, cages or a mixture, and whether any contamination is present.

Should we wash the drums before collection?

Do not wash chemical residues into drains or onto the ground. Let us know what the containers previously held and have them ready for collection.

Can you collect full or part-full drums too?

Tell us about the contents as well as the drum. A container of waste product is different from empty packaging and may need one of our chemical, paint, oil or solvent waste services.
